Counting Up Subtraction

1. Choose a card from the box. On your SmartPal, you will make an estimate and solve the problem using counting up. You can use either the open number line method, number models method or both. 2. Tap on button. 3. Tap on . Type in your estimate number model for your problem. Move your estimate text box into the space provided. 4. Choose tool. Take a picture of the counting up work you did on your smart pal. Move your picture and resize it to fit into the picture box provided. 5. Think about how you are going to explain your math work. You want to tell me the steps you completed to solve the problem using the Counting Up Subtraction method. Rehearse what you want to say. 6. Tap on to begin recording. Use the to point out each step as you explain your math thinking step by step. Press as needed. 7. Listen to your recording. Make sure it says and shows what you expect. 8. Press when done.
