Goal: Today we are going to practice solving word problems with Unknown Starts and Unknown Factors, using situation equations and solution equations. 1. Listen to the video to see strategies on how to show your work to solve the addition and subtraction word problems with unknown starts on journal page 267 and 268. Then pause the video and complete the journal pages. 2. Listen to the next portion of the video to solve multiplication and division word problems with unknown factors. Then complete journal pages 269. Please be sure to show both the situation and solution equations with unknown variables. 3. Next, use the drawing tool to write your own word problem. Your word problem must be either a multiplication or division problem with an unknown factor. Post your word problem for a member of the group to solve. 4. Finally, solve a group members word problem by posting your answer in the comments section.
