P6 Gymnastics: Individual Balances

Grades: 6th Grade
Subjects: Physical Education

Student Instructions

1. Try out the different individual balances that you have learnt in school, varying the a) points of contact (1-point, 2 points etc) b) direction (facing upwards, downwards, sideways etc) c) positions (laying, standing, kneeling etc) d) shapes (narrow, wide, symmetrical, asymmetrical etc), and e) level (High, medium, low) 2. With a partner's help, take photos of the balances that you have tried, and group them according to the level ie one page for high-level balances, one page for mid, and one page for low-level balances In the next lesson, we will attempt to put together a set of 3 different sequences: 3. Plan a sequence comprising a low balance, a locomotion (rotation included) and ending with another low balance. (💡Refer to the photos from the previous lesson for ideas on the low level balances to try) 4. Plan 2 more sequences, with one starting and ending with a mid-level balance, and another with a high-level balance. 5. With a partner's help, film these 3 sequences, and upload them here (add a page for each sequence)
