Reinforcement Inventory Scoring Key Adult Approval (A) __________ Competitive Approval (CM) __________ Peer Approval (P) __________ Independent Rewards (I) __________ Consumable Rewards (CN) __________ How to score the Reinforcement Inventory 1. Interview the student by asking the student to answer each question. (You may have to break the Reinforcement survey up into sections if the student has a hard time answering all the questions at once.) 2. Tell the student there is no right or wrong answer, each question is based off the students choice. 3. Ask each question in the format of which would you rather receive. EX: "Would you rather get pushed on a swing, or receive gummy candy?" 4. Circle the answer the student gives you for each question. 5. When the student is done answering all the questions, go back and count up each inventory of the questions. For example how many Adult Approvals (A) did you circle for the student? How many Competitive Approvals (CM) did you circle for the student? How many Peer Approvals (P) did you circle for the student? How many Independent Rewards (I) did you circle for the student? and finally how many Consumable Rewards (CN) did you circle for the student? 6. Write down the number for each Inventory on the Scoring Key. This will give you a result of what reinforcement your student is most motivated by. 7. Ask more follow up questions about what your student likes to earn. For example if your student had a high ranking number for Consumable rewards, then ask what kind of snacks are his or her favorite.
