1. A morpheme is a small part of a word that has meaning. 2. Reusable is an example. The base word is use. Re- is a prefix that means, "do again." The suffix morpheme "-able" which means "can be done" is added to the end. Also, notice the silent "e" from the base word use, is dropped in the word reusable. 3. Click add 4. Sort the base words, other forms, prefixes, suffixes and morphemes on the chart. Notice that sometimes the spelling of the morphemes change. The morpheme "-able" sometimes changes to "-ible" The prefix "un-" can change to "im-" 5. What do you notice? After you sort use the mic to talk about things you notice in this sort. On the second page is an answer key. Challenge yourself to sort FIRST before you check. Record yourself talking about what you noticed, and what you wonder about these kinds of words. 6.
