Writer's Workshop #8 - Using a Checklist to Self-Assess (OPTION 2)

Grades: 1st Grade
Subjects: Writing

Student Instructions

Please choose option 1 (rubric) or option 2 (checklist) or you can do both activities if you want to! Hello Amazing Writers! At this time, you've probably finished a whole bunch of amazing series books, or one or two REALLY good realistic fiction book. Well, when you're feeling done with a book, it's good to look at a rubric or checklist to see what good first grade writers should be doing, and check if you're doing those things. Rubrics are special charts that teachers use to grade kids. They look at the things first grade writing should have, and they check your writing to see if you did those things and tried your best. Hey... Why wait for a teacher to tell you if you did well? You can check that yourself! Click on the template and use the drawing tool to check off if you're doing things "yes," if you're "starting to" or if you're "not yet" doing those things. Lastly, use the microphone to tell us a goal you will work on to get better at. Remember to have a growth mindset... mistakes help us learn, and trying your best and working on things you need to improve on will always help you get better! You've got this! Let's read your writing and set some goals! GOOOOOOOOO WRITERS!!!
