Phonics - Break Off Endings

Did you know that squirrels break off their own tails when they are in danger? Just like readers can break off word endings when they are reading! 1. Click arrow the example to learn about the break off strategy. 2. Press the green add button. Press the caption button on each page to hear specific instructions. 3. Use the pen tool to break off -ed and -ing endings to make the words easier to read. 4. Press the mic button to record your voice reading each word. Remember to add the word ending back on once you figure out the base word. 5. On page 2, challenge yourself and read a passage about lizards. Use your decoding strategies for any tricky words! 6. Press the green check when you are finished.
