Student Instructions

1. Tap add 2. Read each word. 3. Use move tool. Sort words into three categories: Short i, Long i and oddball 4. Use mic and tell what patterns you notice about the words in each group * Did you notice a pattern in the words that have Short i? * Did you notice a pattern in the words that have Long i? * Did you have words that were oddballs? What made them an oddball? 5. When done tap check and add it to your journal. Challenge: Can you think of other words for each category? Tap on the "COMMENT" area and you can type or record your words. Make sure you tell whether the words are Short i or Long i 😀

Teacher Notes (not visible to students)

This sort has an added level of complexity as it asks the students to figure out the phonics pattern. This work is a good review of word families for short i and gradually introduce students to the relationship between long a and CVCe pattern.
