This activity is a part of the set, Bot Shop Robots. If your students have not listened to this book, consider reading it to them before sharing this activity. https://mathathome.mathlearningcenter.org/grade/pk/set-7 Math at Home activities include a variety of math routines that invite students to engage in meaningful mathematical problem solving and discourse. Math at Home activities are provided by The Math Learning Center with support from the Maier Math Foundation. HOW MANY? How Many? activities invite students to look at a picture and find as many ways as they can to answer the question “How many?” There are always many things to count and many ways to think about each image. Students can take it to the next level by writing equations to describe their thinking or finding a way that no one else they’ve shared it with has thought of. Take a look at the Reference for Educators for sample student responses for this specific activity. https://mathathome.mathlearningcenter.org/activity/1743 WANT TO LEARN MORE?
