Student Instructions
Read this book two or three days in a row. By the third day, you should be very accurate and sound very fluent (reading smoothly, like talking).
Click on the picture of the title page to begin to read the book.
Read each page to your parent, babysitter, or an older sibling - if you get stuck on a word, try to make the sounds in the word - if you can’t work it out, your helper can tell you the word after you’ve had a try at it.
After you read each page, your helper can ask you the questions at the bottom of each page and talk about those with you.
When you have read the book two or three times, do the activity template (with a recording
) so I can hear how you sound as you read!
OPTIONAL: follow-up task: choose one:
a) What happened next? What do you think Red Squirrel will do? Draw a picture and share it with me. You can then share this with me as a
photo or a
video recording. Make sure you tell me on the video (or write/record a caption on your photo) to explain what is happening in the picture.
b) What do you know about squirrels or hawks? Choose one and find out three facts about it. Post a
note or a
video telling me what you have learnt.
