Act Out Stories with Playdough

1. ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ง Make homemade play dough with an adult family member. Have them read the recipe with you. Follow along with your pointer finger. Notice the numbers in the recipe. Help measure the ingredients. If you don't have the ingredients or time to make playdough you can use stuffed animals or toys for this activity. Here's the Recipe: 1 cup of flour 1/4 cup of salt 3/4 cup of warm water 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil Food coloring - optional Step 1 - Measure the flour and salt and mix together in a bowl Step 2 - Add the warm water and a few drops of food coloring (optional) Step 3 - Mix the ingredients together and add the vegetable oil Step 4 - Store in a container or plastic baggie when not using 2. ๐Ÿ“• Read a book or tell a favorite story together. 3. โœ‹๐Ÿฝ Use your playdough to recreate a favorite part of the story. Talk about the story with your family. Teacher Notes (not visible to students)

This activity encourages students to retell favorite parts of a story by recreating a their favorite scene with playdough. You can modify this activity based on the age and skill of your students. If students do not have access to playdough or ingredients you can change the activity so they use stuffed animals, toys or other household objects. Head Start: Goal P-LIT 4.
