Creating Sentences

Grades: 1st Grade

Subjects: English Language Arts

Standards: Develop handwriting by printing words, sentences, and answers legibly leaving appropriate spaces between words. (ELA.1.2(F)), Developing and sustaining foundational language skills: listening, speaking, reading, writing, and thinking--fluency. The student reads grade-level text with fluency and comprehension. The student is expected to use appropriate fluency (rate, accuracy, and prosody) when reading grade-level text. (ELA.1.4)

Student Instructions

Let's Create a Sentence! 1. Drag a picture from each line to the boxes at the bottom of the page to create a sentence. 2. Click the mic and record yourself reading the sentence. 3. Write the sentence in your journal. 4. After your teacher checks your sentence, you can program the Beebot to make the sentence. 5. On the next page, draw a picture of your sentence. 6. Repeat the activity on the next page.

Teacher Notes (not visible to students)

If you do not have access to Beebots, remove that step from the instructions before assigning to the students.
