The Human Body as Machine

Grades: 6th Grade
Subjects: Science

Student Instructions

The human body is often referred to as a complex machine. The definition of a machine is 'an apparatus using mechanical power and having several parts, each with a definite function and together performing a particular task.' Look at these images of four different machines. With your partner explain (simply) how they work. Now, with the aid of an illustration or an image from Google (search 'human body template')explain (again in simple terms) how the human machine works. You can label the internal organs and if you know any of the body's systems you can list these as well.
