Student Instructions
-View the 11-minute PEG + CAT episode, "Yet Another Tree Problem." Click on the word LINK to view it. -Pay attention to what Peg, Cat, and Ramone do to solve their tree problem. 1) Create a program that moves Peg to Cat so she can rescue him. 2) Open the PBS Scratch Jr. app. 3) Find the Tree Background in the 10th row. 4) Add Peg and Cat characters to the project. 5) Tap the + sign and the paint brush tool. Draw a ladder. Tap check mark to save your drawing. You may need to use the purple "Grow" command to increase the size of your ladder. 6) Write the code to rescue Cat. 7) Do a screen recording of your program 8) Tap the :camera roll: to upload to Seesaw.
Teacher Notes (not visible to students)
To upload your Scratch Jr program to Seesaw, you will need to show your student how to use the iPad’s “record the screen” feature and save this video to the camera roll. To turn this feature on, go to the iPad settings, tap Control Center, Customize Controls, Screen Recording. On an iPad with iOS 12 or later, swipe down from the upper-right corner of the screen. You will see the Screen Recording icon that looks like a filled in circle inside a circle. Tap to record your screen. Press deeply or press and hold Screen Recording and tap Microphone Audio to use your device's microphone to capture sound as you record.
