Explain what each allusion in quotations is referring to. Make sure to invoice the story, movie, or person that the allusion is referring to and WHY it makes sense. The first one is done for you. 1. Marcus was a "cowardly lion" when it came time to jump from the high dive. This allusion shows that Marcus was scared to jump from the high dive because in the movie "The Wizard of Oz" the lion was a coward and scared of everything. 2. My sister was "The Wicked Witch of the West" yesterday! 3. I’m surprised "my brother’s nose isn’t 3 feet long"; he lies so much! 4. The actress told the TV reporter, “When I was young, I was an "ugly duckling.” 5. All of Simon’s teammates considered him the “Michael Jordan” of their team. 6. Allison got an A+ on her science test! She is such an "Einstein!”
