Student Instructions
Read this book at least two days in a row. By the third day, you should be very accurate and sound very fluent (reading smoothly, like talking).
Click on the picture of the title page to begin to read the book.
Read each page to your parent, babysitter, or an older sibling - if you get stuck on a word, try to make the sounds in the word - if you can’t work it out, your helper can tell you the word after you’ve had a try at it.
After you read each page, your helper can ask you the questions at the bottom of each page and talk about those with you.
When you have read the book two or three times, do the activity template (with a recording
) so I can hear how you sound as you read!
OPTIONAL: follow-up task: choose one:
a) 🦓Choose one of the animals in the story: rhinoceros, antelope, zebra or warthog. See if you can find out three or four interesting facts about that animal and make a poster or fact sheet about it. You can then share what you’ve made with me as a
photo or a
video recording. 🦏
b) What do you like to do on a very hot day to cool off? Draw a picture and post a
video telling me about it.
