Mindful Recess: Shadow Game

Student Instructions

1. Watch this video video of Marianne playing the Shadow Game. Then, find a partner to play the shadow game with you! You will take turns being the Mover and the Shadow. 2. Sit or stand face to face. 3. The Mover has to try not to smile until they are ready to test the Shadow. The Mover must keep a straight face while making hand, head or body moves until they are ready. 4. When the Mover is ready to test their Shadow partner they will smile big and make a move. The Shadow partner has to try not to smile while continuing to copy the Movers moves. 6. Take turns being the Mover and the Shadow and see how many movements you can copy without smiling while the Mover is smiling. 7. After playing the shadow game, click add to complete your Mindful Journal page. 8. Using the drawing tool, the label tool, or the mic tool, add your response to the first two questions. 9. Then, either drawing or upload a picture of you with your BIGGEST smile! 10. Click check when you're finished. When we smile more others will smile more too - go and share your smile with the world! Note: If you don't have someone nearby, you can play with someone on Facetime/Zoom/Etc., or you can record yourself being the Mover and then play the game with your recording as the Shadow!
