Student Instructions
After all this, the teacher shows a family tree of a famous family that all English language learners should know about: the British Royal Family. They will begin by familiarizing themselves with the closest members of the family, and may want to broaden this to the rest of relatives. Teacher prepares cards with directions that ask students to “find someone who…” meet each of the following criteria. Students walk around and ask their peers if they meet them, and if they do they write down their names on the paper. If time allows, students share with the class how many people they found to meet a specific criterion: “I found 3 people who have a grandfather named Manuel.” or “I haven’t found anyone who is an only child.”
