Student Instructions

Today, we will learn about Media Monsters for Media Literacy Week. We will identify media monster behaviors and discuss how to fight against them. 1. On Page 2, watch the short video to learn what media is πŸŽ₯ 2. On the next pages, tell us about what kind of media you use and what you use it for. πŸ€” 3. On Page 6, you will meet the Gullible Giant. Reflect with your class and record your thinking using the mic tool. 4. On Page 10, you will meet Scary Share-y. Reflect with your class and record your thinking using the mic tool. 5. On Page 14, you will meet the Gobblin' Goblin. Reflect with your class and record your thinking using the mic tool. 6. Finally, use your creativity to create your own Media Monster. You can use any of the drawing tools OR create your monster with physical supplies and use the photo to share an image of your monster. Remember to click check to publish to your journal!

Teachers: This lesson is best utilized with whole-class discussions about the media monsters and their behaviors. Students can brainstorm together before recording their individual reflections.
