Distributive Property: Multiplication

Click on the add response. Watch the video. The distributive property refers to the idea that a factor can be broken down into 2 parts and when we multiply each part separately, then add them back together, the product or the answer will be the same or equivalent. When I watched the video, my brain thought that if I broke up the number 7 into 5 and 2, that would be easier for me to visualize. I could also see how the 6 could have been broken up in to 3 and 3. Re-create the equation or number sentence of 6X7. Use the drawing tools. How would you decompose 6 or 7? Using the distributive property, show how you would get the final answer (product). Then pick your own multiplication sentence and use the distributive property to solve. Remember to use an array. If you would like, use the microphone to further explain how you solved the equation (number sentence). Click on the green check mark when you are done.
