Grades: 3rd Grade, 4th Grade
Subjects: Multilingual Learners

Student Instructions

Learning Intention: We are learning to use adverbs as sentence starters. To be successful I will: - Use the label tool to write 5 sentences on the template provided. - Make sure I include an ADVERB as an opener. - Identify each adverb by using the highlighter feature. - Try to use a range of sentence types (simple, compound and complex). E.g. Frantically, he searched for the missing diamond hidden in the sand. Remember adverbs often tell when, where, why, or under what conditions something happens or happened. Refer back to the prompts provided in your weekly overview for helpful hints. Optional Activity: Adverb act out OR charades. Using ONE sentence you generated play charades or act it out to a family member and see if they can guess your adverb. E.g. “She walked into the room _______ .” Possible suggestions include: slowly, sadly, joyously, excitedly, solemnly etc. Switch roles and see how many adverbs you can generate that fit your sentence.
