Language/ Unit Objective: Create an acrostic poem using weather vocabulary

Grades: 3rd Grade
Subjects: Science, English Language Arts

Student Instructions

Below is the a list of weather vocabulary. Weather Vocabulary: Forecast, sunshine, breeze, clear skies, cool, fine, rainbow, mild, boiling, heatwave, drought, lightning, thunder, thunderstorm, tornado, twister, overcast, mist, fog, wind, clouds, cirrus, cumulus, stratus, rain, hurricane, freezing, frost, snow, blizzard, ice storm, Celsius, Fahrenheit 1.) Read through the list of words. There may be some words that are new, so take the time to Google search a few of the new words. For example: (Google: Weather ice storm) go to Images to see what that looks like. EAL students may choose 3 to 4 letter words. For example: fog or wind or challenge yourself to a longer word. 2.) See the attached samples of what an acrostic poem looks and sounds like. Remember to reflect on the word meaning, look at a picture, and write a sentence or one word. 3.) Use the template or a separate paper. 4.) Attach a picture of the word or draw on your sheet. 4.) Place in Language/Unit folder
