Student Instructions

Today you are going to notate your music on the staff. We will review how to correctly write pitches and rhythms on the staff, and you will take it from there. 1. Write your random element (rhythm or pitch) on the staff. 2. Add the other element. If you need to decide pitches, use a barred instrument or recorder to determine a melody. An easy way is to let each member of the group select a melody of about 5 pitches, and then put them together and change as needed. Same if you need to add rhythm. 3. Decide if you want your rhythms to be in groups of two beats, three beats, or four beats, and put bar lines where you divide. I will show you how to do that. 4. Take a picture of your notation before you can go on.
