Introduce the concept of irreversible and reversible changes due to actions eg; flexibility – able to bend without breaking. inflexible - unable to bring back to original shape Optional: Add a mind map Provide students with a range of materials. Explain to students that they will need to test each material. i.e If the material can squash, bend, twist or stretch without breaking, it would be flexible. Test each material to see if it can squash, bend, twist or stretch (individually/pairs/small groups) Sort the materials into two groups, those that can easily change shape and those that can’t - irreversible and reversible changes due to actions Students then record their findings about materials (teachers discretion on amount of materials) ie irreversible and reversible changes due to actions onto Seesaw.
