This activity helps 4th graders identify and compare angle sizes relative to a right angle. Begin by showing the video and discussing visual cues for acute (< 90°), right (= 90°), obtuse (> 90° and < 180°), straight (= 180°) and reflex (> 180°). Use the Solve It pages for quick checks of understanding and the Show It frame for a creative assessment. Prepare a classroom corner with a paper square or index card corner for students to compare angles by eye and, if available, a classroom or digital protractor for measuring. For open-ended responses: a high-quality answer on Think About It names a specific idea learned (for example, “I learned a right angle looks like a square corner”) and poses a clear question (for example, “How do we measure a reflex angle without a protractor?”). For the Show It task, look for evidence that the student can correctly identify and label at least two angle types or demonstrate measuring/estimating; this could be a clear photo with labelled angles, a short video explanation, or a recorded drawing showing reasoning. Grade open responses simply as correct or incorrect based on whether the student correctly identifies and explains angle types or shows an accurate example.
