Read to Self - Understanding Character Traits

Grades: 2nd Grade, 1st Grade
Subjects: English Language Arts

Student Instructions

Find a book to read. Today we are focusing on character traits. A character or personality trait tells us what a character is like. For example, if someone enjoys playing a lot of sports, you could say that they are athletic. If a person takes good care of their pets and does their chores well, you could say that they are responsible. Choose a character from your book to study. Look for clues about how the character thinks, talks, acts, and feels. What do they tell you about the character? The second page of this activity has a list of character traits that could help you. Tap add after reading all the instructions. Use photo to take a picture of the character you chose to study. Tap label to write trait that describes your character. Tap mic and record your answers to the following questions. 1.) What is the book's title? Who is the author? 2.) Who is the character you chose to study? What is the trait that describes the character? 3.) Give three clues that tell you about the character's trait. What does the character think, say, or do to show that trait? 4.) Would you like to be that character's friend? Why?
