Student Instructions
Read this story at least three days in a row. You can read half on the first day and half on the second day. By the third or fourth day, you should be very accurate and sound very fluent (reading smoothly, like talking).
Click on the picture of the title page to begin to read the book.
Read each page to your parent, babysitter or older sibling. If you get stuck on a word, try to make the sounds in the word - if you cannot work it out, your helper can tell you the word after you have had a try at it.
After you read each page, your helper can ask you the questions at the bottom of each page and talk about those with you.
When you have read the story two or three times, do the activity template (with a
recording) so I can hear how you sound as you read.
OPTIONAL: follow-up task:
1. What is a game that your family like to play at home? Use the
Video tool, (or use your device camera and
upload the video) make a short 1-2 minute video to demonstrate how to play that game.
Think about explaining how many people are needed, any equipment that is needed, and the rules of the game.
OR
2. On paper, make a fact poster about cats.
You need: a title, at least one illustration or diagram, and three facts.
Think about: how to space the items out neatly across your paper; checking your spelling and punctuation; making it colourful.
When it is done,
add it as a photo, or make a
video to share it. You can
record yourself taking about the poster.
