Long and Short Vowel Sorting Mats

Pick up a picture card and say the word. Listen for what sound is in the middle of the word. If the vowel says it's name like A, E, I, O, or U place it on the long vowel side. If the vowel makes it's normal letter sound like /a/, /e/, /i/, /o/, or /u/ then place it in the short vowel side. When you have finished sorting all of your cards, take a picture of your sheet and record yourself tracking as you say each word.
