Student Instructions
Research shows that there are three components necessary for school success: students feeling connected to families, students feeling connected to teachers and students feeling connected to each other. Watch this powerful video by Dr. Becky Bailey from "Unconscious Discipline" as she shares the incredible power of "Connection Rituals" for elementary school students. 1. Learning at home is a perfect time to support these important connections so students are supported while learning away from you and their friends in this stressful time. 2. Encourage families to create "I Love You or Connection" rituals as part of their day. 3. We have created several activities and routines that you can customize and send home to families. All of them are built to support: eye contact, touch, presence, and playful situations. 4. These activities will help families navigate this new reality and will ultimately help students feel more connected, which leads to cooperation and more productive academic focus.
It is important to support families in helping their child learn at home in a supportive, fun and encouraging way. Creating a let's get silly routine and regular brain breaks can help children be feel more connected, cooperative and ready to learn.
