Teacher Notes (not visible to students)

This activity reviews the parts of a healthy plate and connects nutrition ideas to writing and multimedia skills. Use the pages in order: start with the short recap and vocabulary, then practice matching and sorting, and finish with assessment and multimedia projects. For the partner activity, prepare basic classroom materials: paper plates, markers, cut-out food pictures or magazines, glue, and a tablet or device for recording. For the open-ended ParagraphQuestion, a high-quality answer names the parts of a healthy plate (fruits/vegetables, protein, grains, dairy/alternative), explains why each part is important, and gives at least one specific example of a healthy food for each part. For the multimedia advertisement, a high-quality submission shows a clear healthy plate image or model, uses at least one persuasive sentence about health benefits, and includes a readable photo or a 30-60 second video with clear audio. Teachers will grade open responses manually as correct or incorrect based on inclusion of the key parts and clear reasoning.
