Student Instructions

1. Read the information about Athens & Sparta 2. Use the label tool to write two or more adjectives that describe each city-state. (Remember that adjectives are words that describe what a person, place, or thing is like.) 3. Draw a quick illustration for each city-state that shows what values were important to the people of that city-state. 4. Use the caption caption to answer the question: Which city-state was better? Write a good claim statement and supporting evidence from the text. Remember to use quotation marks around your quote from the text!

Teacher Notes (not visible to students)

The text I used was the graphic novella from McGraw Hill's world history textbook. Any article comparing Athens & Sparta would work, though. (You'll want to edit the caption on the template if you use a different text.)
