Cutting and Hand Strength

Grades: PK-TK, Kindergarten, Other
Subjects: Special Education

Student Instructions

Once you have completed the activity, please take a picture and send it to me. * This activity will help to continue to build on cutting skills, but add in an element of strength building by having them cut items that are thicker than a sheet of paper. * Please be sure to use child/blunt tip scissors and you may need to help your child hold the scissors so that they keep their thumb pointed up. You may also need to help them hold the straw or playdough or paper while they are cutting. Have them snip straws into small pieces or roll out playdough and snip it into pieces. You can stop there OR have some 2-3 inch wide strips of construction paper or cardstock ready and have them cut the strips into 2 or 3 pieces.
