Planting a seed

Grades: Kindergarten, Pre-K

Student Instructions

Today we are going to plant a seed. You may use the seeds you found during our previous activity or choose another seed you would like to watch grow. For this activity you will need a seed(s), paper towel, sandwich size plastic baggie, tape, and a stapler. You may print out, cut and decorate the attached greenhouse template, or create one of your own. 1. Wet a paper towel and place it inside of the baggie. 2. Put a staple in the middle of the baggie (this will keep the seed(s) elevated so you have a better view of future root growth) 3. Place the seed(s) on top of the staple and close the baggie 4. Decorate a greenhouse frame and attach with tape. 5. Tape the baggie in a sunny spot so you can watch it grow! When your are finished take a photo then draw a picture (be sure to include the date) of what you see. When your ready: add Tap the green add button upload Tap the upload button to upload your drawing/photo check Tap the green check to add to your journal We will be observing and documenting the seed's growth over the next couple of weeks. Check on your seed(s) everyday (add a little water if it appears dry) and draw pictures of the changes you see as your seed(s) begins to grow!
