Student Instructions
Play this game with a partner. Equipment: * 15 objects e.g. counters, paddle pop sticks, rocks, marbles, etc (anything you find around the house) * Paper to keep a tally of score How to play: * Set up 3 rows of objects as shown in the picture (rows of 3, 5 and 7) * Use to record players taking turns removing objects from any one of the rows. You can take as many objects as you like from a row, but ONLY that row. * The winner is the person who forces the other player to take the last object. * Keep a tally of who wins and take a at the end. * Use to discuss any particular strategies you used.
This game can be played just for fun or used to see if students are using any strategies in order to win. Their explanation will demonstrate their mathematical reasoning skills.
