Today we are investigating the volume of popcorn I can make predictions and measure quantities If you can't make popcorn it's ok go to Option B If you can make the popcorn you will need - • Popcorn kernels • A popcorn maker (or pot with a lid or microwave and dish) • Various containers, e.g. plastic bowls, ice cream containers, cups How much popcorn do you like to eat when you watch a movie? 1. Make some popcorn 2. Make a prediction - how much popcorn will there be when it has all popped? 3. Choose some containers or bowls that will be the right size to hold the popcorn 4. When the popcorn is ready, check your prediction by testing the containers to see which is the best fit? 5. Next, measure the popcorn with cups 6. How many cups of popcorn did you make? Take 3 photo photos. 1 photo photo of the big container of popcorn, 1 photo photo of how many cups of popcorn you counted and 1 photo: photo of you eating the popcorn! label explain your thinking check check check OPTION B You will need 2 jugs Can you estimate how many cups you need to fill jug 1 and jug 2? Write your guess Now fill the jugs using a cup. Check if the estimation matches the actual amount.
