Developing your reading stamina is like training to run a long distance. Both require regular practice to increase energy and concentration. This is where we use our 'Growth Mindset' and The Power of Yet. "I can't concentrate for that long, yet!" Start small if you need to and then gradually build your stamina by reading a self-selected book in 5 minute intervals then 10 minute intervals and so on until you reach 1 hour. Top Tips for Building Your Reading Stamina 1. Choose a book that you want to read. 2. Diminish Distractions - Find a quiet place with few distractions. 3. Create a Comfortable Reading Space - A big comfy chair, lying in bed, outside in your garden, under a table. 4. Set Yourself a Goal and share your success. Be honest with yourself. ** Remember if you cheat, the only person you cheat is youself! 5. Take a Brain Break - Stop half way and re-energise, walk around, have a snack, take some deep breaths, gain stamina, then return to your reading.
