What's Inside a Seed?

Grades: 1st Grade, 2nd Grade

Student Instructions

1 You need a dry bean and one that has been soaked overnight. Carefully peel the seed coat off your beans. Which bean can you peel? 2. Break your bean open. What do you see? 3. Tap add. 4. Tap frame-photo. Take a picture of your seeds. 5. Tap label. Label the parts of the seed. 6. Tap rec 7. Tap the arrow. Record your thinking using the arrow. 8. Tap the check.

Teacher Notes (not visible to students)

Students will need a dry bean and one that has been soaked overnight. Students will try to peel off the seed coat of the dry bean. Some may be able to pick a little off. Then give them a bean that has been soaked. Students will easily peel off the seed coat. Have the students use a magnifying glass to find the little plant hidden inside the bean.
