This requires students to use multi-steps to calculate the open ended answers. This could be slightly altered to ask for change or to round up. It can also be used for fluency- to assist with most efficient counting methods. This fits into both Year 2 and 3 ACARA Achievement Standards: Yr2 AS: Associate collections of Australian coins with their value. Yr3 AS: Represent money values in various ways.
