This activity was created for fifth grade. It focuses around the standard of having students translate verbal phrases into numerical expressions. Ex. “one-fourth taken away from five” is 5 - ¼ and not ¼ - 5 Ex. “the quotient of 8 and 4 multiplied by 3 (8 ÷ 4) x 3 This is a great activity for independent work, math rotations, review, and/or remediation.
