But among computer programmers, "hacker" has other meanings. To some, it's a badge of honor that signals you're an expert coder. It was a process of exploration that demanded a hands-on approach. That idea formed the core of what came to be known as the hacker ethic. This code of beliefs spread among tech enthusiasts around the country. "A hackathon is a creative collaboration of individual’s ideas to solve a problem. These events allow students to express creativity, brainstorm ideas and work together to offer a solution to a given problem. They also are an opportunity for elementary/middle school students to provide input into current real-world issues."
