Measuring and problem solving. (Cm)

Grades: 4th Grade, 3rd Grade, 2nd Grade
Subjects: Math

Student Instructions

1.Three little tadpoles were learning to swim. Mother frog measured how far they swam with her frog jumps because her jumps are always the same length. 2. Each frog jump was 5cm 3. Green tadpole swam as far as 3 frog jumps. 4. The yellow tadpole swam 2 more frog jumps than the green tadpole. 5. The blue tadpole swam a little less than the green tadpole. (But it could still be measured with frog jumps.) 6.How far might blue tadpole have swum? --------------------------------------- 7. Measure using cms and show how far each tadpole swam. (Remember each frog jump is 5cm.) 8. Use your ruler and cms and show all your working out NEATLY in your Maths Book. THEN.... GO BACK TO seesaw 1. Tap add 2. Take a clear photo of your measuring. Use the addpage if you need to. 3. Use the mic and the arrow tools to explain your workings. 4. Tap check

This is easy to Copy and Edit if you need to change to inches. The recording reminds them several times that each frog jump is 5cm. You may want to remove the recording if you want them to pick this up just from the instructions. Learning Intention: To gain practise using centimetres as a measuring unit. To use the abbreviation cm. To employ skip counting to solve mathematical problems. Frog Picture: File:Oophaga pumilio (Strawberry poision frog) (2532163201).jpg - Wikimedia Commons
