Teacher Notes (not visible to students)

This activity teaches Years 1–4 students to recognise simple pieces of data and decide if they are safe to share. Use short, clear examples and model the sentence starters aloud. Prepare 3–4 printed or projected example cards (name, photo of home, favourite toy, class picture). Use the partner activity for speaking and short recordings. Materials: paper, pencils, a device for recording (tablet or phone), and printed example cards. High-quality student responses will correctly name the data, state who could use it (e.g., family, teacher), and give a clear safety reason using the sentence starters (e.g., 'This is private because it has my address. It helps me stay safe by not telling strangers where I live.').
