Student Instructions

Welcome to BOLT Blocks 1, your introduction to the Block Canvas! You’ll learn about how to use the space to program your Sphero BOLT and then explore how to control your robot’s movement with the all-important roll block. Learning Objectives: • I can create a new program on the Block Canvas. • I can control Sphero/ BOLT movement with the three inputs on a roll block: speed, heading, and duration. • I can program Sphero/ BOLT to roll in a square. Driving is fun, but programming gives you more control over BOLT’s /Sphero's movements and unlocks lots of extra features. In this step, you’ll learn about one of the most important blocks in the block library: the roll block. The roll block has three inputs: Speed: how fast your robot will roll, 0 - 255 Heading: the direction your robot will roll, 0 - 359, in degrees Duration: the amount of time that your robot will roll, in seconds. When you are ready go to the link link on page 1. Review the steps and the go to the app on your device. Connect your Sphero BOLT. Follow the steps from the lesson plan. At any new skill try to take a photo , video or screenshot of you progress. Add these to your Coding Diary to show your progress and success.
