This activity helps third graders choose and use exactly two adjectives to make sentences clearer and more vivid. It moves from short review and vocabulary building to matching practice, then to sentence editing and paragraph writing. Use the partner activity to encourage talk before writing and to let students hear descriptive choices aloud. Prep: have pencils and a few classroom objects (a book, a bus toy, a pencil, a stuffed animal) available for the partner task. For open-ended paragraph and partner responses, look for these qualities in a high-quality answer: the student uses exactly two adjectives to describe each named noun, the adjectives are different from each other and add new information (not simple repeats), word order is natural (adjectives placed before the noun), and sentences are complete. Grade open responses as correct if they meet these expectations; mark incorrect if a noun has fewer or more than two adjectives, adjectives do not describe the noun, or sentences are incomplete.
