Grades: 4th Grade, 3rd Grade, 5th Grade
Subjects: Music

Student Instructions

Good morning Student Musicians! We all know listening to music is fun. Moving to music is great too. But do you remember what happens when you actually play music - your whole brain lights up like fireworks! It has been a long time since we have had the use of real hands on classroom instruments. It has been a really long time since we have read notes on the music ladder (stave)! Do you remember the 5 lines of music: E, G, B, D, F ( Every - Good - Boy - Deserves - Fruit)? Do you remember the names of the spaces between the lines: F- A-C-E ? We used our hand in front of us to remember how it worked! The purpose of today's lesson is to have some fun using a free app called Songbook for Xylophone. It has a selection of simple melodies which will help us remember how to read music. INSTRUCTIONS 1. Tap link and explore using the app 2. Choose ONE song and practice it until you feel confident playing it without stopping and playing it smoothly. 3. Tap pencil and reflect on your experience of using the app and circle the comments which you agree with 4. Tap pencil OR mic and add any extra comments about the features of the app and which other levels in the school might benefit from using it. Success looks like: * I can successfully explore using the music app Songbook for Xylophone * I can demonstrate my ability to practice reading music notation and play ONE song confidently using the app * I can reflect on my experience of using the features of the app and make suggestions about how it can be used in other learning environments in my school. EXTRA CHALLENGE Learn to play ALL the melodies in this current version of the app. Have fun! https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/11cRWz34uCRjLCss2FehZR0l02q2gkbdhT3HRBxTBSHY/mobilepresent?slide=id.p
