Andy Goldsworthy is a contemporary environmental artist, which means that he only uses objects and materials found in nature to create his artwork. A. Begin by watching the video. Things to notice while watching the video. i. Try and count how many different types of objects the artist uses to create the sculpture. ii. How does the artist use natural color of the objects to create a pattern? iii. How long do you think the sculptures last before they eventually erode? iv. How does the artist choose to frame his photo of the sculpture? B. Create Your Own Nature Artwork Step 1: Try to find a flat surface outside. It could be a patch of dirt, or a section of sidewalk; something that can be used to make a picture of balance a sculpture using things found in nature Step 2: Gather your materials. Try and find at least 5 different kinds of things found in nature such as grass, rocks, leaves, and sticks. In addition, you can add one special object of your choosing that is not found in nature to place into your artwork. Step 3: Arrange a simple picture, pattern, sculpture or combination of all three. Remember you can place one special object into your design that is not found in nature. Post a picture!
