Student Instructions

Boring sentences make reading, well boring. Many authors find ways to spice up their stories by choosing interesting words and varying the length of the sentences they write. Sometimes writers add adjectives and adverbs. Sometimes they add more details. Read this sentence: The cat fell asleep. It is boring! How can you improve it? Without changing the meaning of the sentence, you can add words that transform that boring sentence into an interesting one: The tired cat drifted quickly off to sleep. 1. Rewrite the following sentences so that they are more interesting for readers! Use the label tool. 2. Pick one of your favorite revisions, and use the rec tool to explain how you changed it. Why did you make those changes? How does it help the reader have a mental picture of the sentence? 3. Hit the green check when you are finished.
