Teacher Notes (not visible to students)

Teachers, this activity is designed for Year 1 and 2 students to revise Australian coins. They must first reorder a set of coins into order of value. They then complete 4 shopping tasks whereby they are offered a choice of 2 items to buy and must drag the coins needed to pay for the item. They are then required to make that same amount in 2 other different ways (e.g. if the item costs $2, they could pay for it with a $2 coin, two $1 coins, or four 50c coins). This engages students creatively and requires Higher Order Thinking skills. Students will use the move and draw tools for these activities.
