Student Instructions

The age of criminal responsibility in Western Australia is 10 years of age. This means that if you are 10 or older and you commit a criminal offence, you can be charged by the police and convicted in court. This is where the challenge comes in! Task: Use the information on the Legal Aid website to create a short video (1-2 minutes) on one of the following topics: What does Legal Aid do? What is something young people should know about to avoid getting in trouble with the law? What is a legal problem that might affect you and what you can do about it? Activity Procedure Go to the link🔗on the example pages and find out some things about you and the Law. Maybe take notes or create a response page with ideas for your video. When you are ready create a video (possibly with iMovie) about your theme on Law and U. When complete upload your movie to the 3rd page. GOOD LUCK!

This activity was a way of responding to this special video challenge. However, this activity can be done as a stand alone activity if doing a law or children's rights type investigation. Video Challenge Outline. Law Week in Australia is dedicated to raising awareness and understanding of the law. It promotes legal education for the wider community, and how you can get access to legal services and advice. To celebrate Law Week 2022 (16 - 20 May), Legal Aid WA invites students across WA primary and high schools to participate in its Law Week Video Challenge! This is where the challenge comes in! Task: Use the information on the Legal Aid website to create a short video (1-2 minutes) on one of the following topics: What does Legal Aid do? What is something young people should know about to avoid getting in trouble with the law? What is a legal problem that might affect you and what you can do about it? Who can enter: Students in Years 3 - 12, with the support of their classroom teacher. How: You can use any type of technology, app or software to record your video. Once you have created your video, your teacher will share it with us. Dates: Entries close on Thursday 12 May at 4.00 pm. Prize: The videos will be judged by our expert lawyers, and the winners will be featured on Legal Aid WA’s official social media pages!
