An awful lot of the work of science is collecting data. Scientists use data to do all kinds of things. In today's activity, we are going to help with the conservation efforts of the Masai giraffes in Africa! You will be shown a picture of a giraffe and use the tools on the website to mark 4 points on the giraffe. Biologists will then use computer programs that recognize the fur patterns of different giraffes to gather measurement data on each giraffe. They can then chart how different giraffes are growing over time. To complete the activity: Go to the website below.
